Product Review: Polishing Peel for Baby Soft Skin

As we age, the turnover rate of our skin cells slows. Dead skin cells that normally shed every 28 days hang on to the skin’s surface longer, leaving it feeling coarser due to uneven surface texture. This rough texture does not reflect light evenly, resulting in lack of skin radiance or brightness. This slowed cell turnover can exasperate the appearance of pores making them appear larger.

Many individuals turn to different skin treatments to help alleviate these skin aging concerns. One common skin treatment is microdermabrasion, which uses a tool to buff or sand away the stratum corneum (outer layers of the epidermis). This increases the smoothness of your skin, helps it look brighter and decreases the appearance of pores. This can also stimulate the skin’s natural cell renewal process, resulting in a younger appearance. Microdermabrasion is less invasive than many professional skin treatments, but some may experience mild swelling and redness that lasts from as little as a few hours to a couple of days.

Nu Skin’s Polishing Peel Skin Refinisher resurfaces and polishes skin to immediately deliver a fresh, glowing complexion. It features pumpkin enzymes to resurface, soften and polish the skin and bentonite clay to remove dull skin cells and toxins. In an internal consumer use study, Nu Skin Polishing Peel was found to provide benefits similar to those experienced by some microdermabrasion techniques.

During this study participants received a professional microdermabrasion treatment on one side of their face and used Nu Skin Polishing Peel on the other half of their face. The users and independent graders tactilely and visually evaluated their skin. Overall, the two were considered equivalent, with Nu Skin Polishing Peel rating higher for the skin being smoother and softer and microdermabrasion rating slightly higher for the skin feeling resurfaced.

Positive benefits reported from both treatments included “skin is glowing,” “looks smoother,” “pores seem smaller,” “looks resurfaced,” “tone and color are more even,” “looks healthier,” “looks less oily,” and “I look younger.”

Nu Skin Polishing Peel provides results equivalent to microdermabrasion with a convenient, quick, application just a couple times per week as part of your skin care regimen. It helps resurface and polish skin leaving a healthy, youthful looking complexion and radiates a healthy looking glow.

AgLoc? NuSkin? Anyone know

Ok so here’s the deal. Had a friend in high school who entered the entertainment field and was in a television series for many years. Now he’s a Hollywood producer who got into an mlm called AgLoc which is an anti aging business that spun off of more commonly known NuSkin.

My friend, after many years of almost no contact, except for the back and forth of facebook, contacts me to get me involved in his new venture. He said he wants to share this business with me because it has awesome income potential, and because of my “vivacious” personality I’d be great at this business.

Now having come out of another anti-aging skin care mlm business and being a little burned and losing a lot of money in it, I have a slightly different attitude about it then the other 15 people he’s trying to pitch on the East coast. I tapped into all of my friends, and their friends, and so on and so on. Can I now approach those same people with this new product line? Or do I look foolish?

Ok, so now all of this being said, him being a friend, I can’t help but wonder if it may be a good opportunity? i realize he stands to benefit from my hard work…..but so do I. Everyone can use a little extra income.

I just want to ask if any of you have heard of this product and if so just share your thoughts with me. If you have been involved in this mlm what is your honest opinion? Can’t wait to hear from you. 🙂  Check this out, cool site.

Estée Lauder’s Hydra Bright Skin-Tone Perfecting Moisturizer Creme

Due to my mostly dry skin, one of my favorite/most needed products in the world is moisturizer. And I’ve heard that Estee Lauder does moisturizer well, as evident in their Hydra Bright Skin-Tone Perfecting Moisturizer Creme line. Light and silky, this moisturizing cream does not just moisturize; its Encapsulated Moisture Cells solution helps plump skin as well to clear fine lines. Of course, it isn’t called Hydra Bright for nothing, as it creates a vibrant, flawless, and glowing look too.

The moisturizer comes in three variants to suit dry skin, oily skin, and combination skin. Thus, you can use it no matter what type of skin you have. Price may be a bit steep at $40.00 for 1.7 oz but I’ve read great reviews about this moisturizer and would like to try it out one of these days. If you’re using this moisturizer right now feel free to share your thoughts on it!

Olay Total Effects Daily Moisturizer

In my part of the globe, there’s one moisturizer that really rose in popularity over the last few years: the Olay Total Effects Daily Moisturizer. At first, it was just another new moisturizer claiming to be really unique and beneficial and endorsed by celebrities. But a few months later, it became one of the top (if not the top) moisturizers in the land.

So what exactly are the effects of Olay Total Effects? One of its main claims is that it is a 7-in-1 anti-aging moisturizer. By “7-in-1”, it means it provides seven anti-aging therapies in one formula. Among the benefits it promises to give are Line Minimization, Nourishing Moisturization, Tone Enhancement, Gentle Exfoliation, Pore Refinement, Free Radical Defense, and Subtle Lifting.

I tried the product last year out of curiosity, and so far I haven’t regretted it. Based on experience and from what I heard, it works best on dry skin. One thing I noticed about my face was that it significantly became a lot fairer and smoother and it’s something that I’m not just imagining because people do notice it. I also notice the same effect on my friends and my mom’s friends who use the product. What I also love about the product is that it’s not too oily or watery – just the right consistency. In addition, it’s not too expensive because one bottle lasts me about 2-3 months.

Have you tried this moisturizer as well? Do share your experiences, positive or negative, so we’ll all be aware. 😉

Beauty and Chlorine

Since water is one of the most important elements for our bodies, one would think that immersing oneself in a pool of water would be good for you….that is except for the chlorine. The health benefits of swimming are great. But, the things put in water to protect us from infection are responsible for adverse effects on our skin, hair and even teeth.

One of the most common– and obvious– problems affects blondes. Blonde hair is known to turn green because of the exposure to copper (pipes) and chlorine. Skin problems can also occur in frequent swimmers. If you think about it, skin is the largest organ in the body. While technically water-proof, the skin can absorb contaminants from water. While chlorine is said to cause cancer and other ailments, problems to skin and hair are usually not life-threatening. Irritation can occur on the skin and scalp, making for a dry, itchy body and head. Additionally, chlorine can also destroy proteins in our bodies. Depleted of protein, skin and hair can become very dry. Hair can become unmanageable and color-treated hair can be ruined.

Wetting the hair with non-chlorinated water prior to swimming will lessen that amount of the element that can be absorbed. There are several types of shampoo on the market, that can help keep hair healthy when swimming. Although not the most attractive accessory, bathing caps are well-suited from totally protecting hair- and can help protect blondes from becoming greens. For those with long hair, caps can also help hair from dragging along during laps! Post-swim, keeping up with hair can include shampooing, not using the high setting on the blow dryer and using a wide-tooth comb instead of a brush.

Chlorine isn’t the only pool culprit. Water itself removes moisture from the skin. There is a layer of oil present on all of our bodies, but once immersed in water, it disappears. This allows for the dryness to set in. To combat this, after showering (following the swim), apply a moisturizer- either a lotion or cream.

And a final tip about swimming and chlorine- don’t swallow the water! That could be a whole other article on the effects of that!

Moisturize

lotion

There are standard places we always remember to moisturize. We always remember hands, feet, face, and legs. But there are certain places we don’t normally think of that we shouldn’t forget. I have seen many people out who have forgotten to moisturize their ears. The ears is one place people rarely think of. You need to moisturize in the folds of the ear, around, and behind it. If you notice, your ears shed and peel quite often.

There are a few more places you shouldn’t forget, especially with summer coming. Elbows, kneecaps, and behind the knee can be done every time you get out of the shower or bath. Shoulders and the back of the neck you can do before you get dressed while you are doing your legs, feet and hands. The small of the back and the buttocks should be done before you go to sleep. Or you can do it all at one time, when you first wake up in the morning. It can become part of your regular routine.

Moisturizing is an important part of healthy skin care. Arbonne has a great oil I like to use for hard to moisturize areas, like the heel of your feet, elbows, and knees, it’s called Arbonne Intelligence Skin Conditioning Oil and after one try you’ll love, I do!  It should never be neglected or put off for another time. Correctly done, it can keep skin plump and radiant and reduce the sign of aging. Skin protects your (inside)body from infection and environmental damages, why not keep it healthy and beautiful!

Moisturizing 101

Many types and brands of moisturizer can be bought in the market today. Too many, in fact, that quite a few women are confused on what specific moisturizer would really solve their facial problems or simply work best for their faces. From relatively cheap moisturizers to creams worth thousands of dollars, it can be hard to discern which is the proper one to buy. Hence, here are some basic guide questions that may help in the process of choosing and applying our beloved moisturizer.

1 1. What is my facial skin type?

The type of moisturizer you choose should depend on your skin type. People who are often exposed to chemicals or to the sun tend to have dry skin. If you have dry skin, it is best to apply a more hypoallergenic moisturizer as this calms the skin. It is also best to use an oil-based moisturizer and increase the frequency of application. People with oily skin should use oil-free moisturizers such as water-based ones. For sensitive skin, make sure the moisturizer does not have any fragrance and is hypoallergenic. Meanwhile, combination skin is a bit trickier as it has both the characteristics of dry and oily skin. Usually the oily part is the forehead area, nose and chin collectively known as the T-zone, while the dry area is usually around the eyes, outer cheek, and neck. Before applying moisturizer on combination facial skin, wash face with a good facial wash and then apply a cream cleanser and freshener to dry areas and a strong astringent to the oily areas. After this you may apply hypoallergenic moisturizer on the entire face, concentrating on the drier parts.

2. What ingredients should I look for?

It all depends on the need of your skin. For instance, if you live in a big city and are often exposed to pollution, free radicals are released from the face and may cause fine lines and spots to appear. You need moisturizers with a good amount of antioxidants such as vitamins A, C and E to help neutralize the free radicals. Usually it’s the same case if your job requires you be exposed to the sun for longer periods of time. Choose moisturizers with a strong sun protection factor or SPF (at least 20) to protect your face from drying up. If your skin has darkened and thickened and you wish to exfoliate, choose a moisturizer with fruit acid or Vitamin A that helps get rid of old skin. However this is not advisable to older women whose skin are generally thinner. Cholesterol and fatty acids also work great as these mimic the structure of your skin. Antioxidants like green tea and Vitamin C induce a better glow.

3. What ingredients should I avoid?

People with dry skin should avoid moisturizers that have fragrances as this can irritate the skin. Avoid glycolic acid as this can cause unhealthy thinning of the skin. If you’re prone to acne, avoid “comedogenic” products as this can block pores.

4. What is the proper method of application?

Before applying moisturizer, make sure your hands are clean. Surely you do not want any more dirt to enter your face. When your hands are clean, wash your face thoroughly and then wipe with a clean towel. This is the time to apply moisturizer on the still damp facial skin, as applying moisturizer to a damp face helps lock in the moisture. Don’t apply moisturizer on a dry face because this doesn’t trap excess moisture. Of course, don’t apply moisturizer to a wet face as well as the cream and water will just slide off your face.

Remember to spread the moisturizer in your face by way of gentle massaging, all the way to the neck. Do not miss any crucial area. Use slow and soft upward strokes to counter the direction of gravity that tends to pull down the face over time. 😉
